Lista de verificación de proveedores de baterías UL 1973 para Norteamérica

Conocimiento de Baterías · 2026-10-18

A battery supplier's claim that a product is "UL 1973 compliant" does not, by itself, show that the exact battery you plan to buy is certified. For North American buyers, the key question is whether the listed product, configuration, and intended application match the system being procured.

UL 1973 is a safety standard for stationary and vehicle auxiliary power battery systems. It is not a substitute for checking the complete installation, applicable codes, or requirements imposed by an authority having jurisdiction. Treat the standard as one part of supplier qualification, not as a blanket approval for every pack from a factory.

Verify the certificate and its scope. Ask for the certification body, file or listing number, current certificate, and product model covered. Confirm the certificate directly in the certifier's database, and check that the manufacturer and production location align with the supplier's documentation.

Compare the certified configuration with the quotation and datasheet. Cell chemistry, cell model, series and parallel arrangement, nominal voltage, capacity, enclosure, cooling, wiring, protective devices, and BMS can all affect whether the supplied product is within the evaluated scope. Ask the supplier to identify any deviations in writing.

Request evidence for the exact order configuration, including the certificate or listing record, critical component list where available, product datasheet, installation and operating instructions, and applicable test reports. UN38.3 test documentation addresses transport testing; it does not replace UL 1973 certification.

Check application fit before comparing price. A battery intended for stationary energy storage may not be suitable for a vehicle auxiliary system or another use simply because its voltage and capacity match. Confirm the intended application and installation conditions against the certificate and the system integrator's requirements.

Assess the battery controls and operating limits. Review BMS protections for overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, and temperature, along with charge and discharge limits. Confirm how the system reports SOC and SOH, communicates alarms, and behaves during a fault or loss of communications.

Compare lifetime claims using stated conditions, not headline cycle counts. A quoted cycle life should specify DoD, temperature, C-rate, end-of-life capacity threshold, and test method. Check that the datasheet's continuous and peak current limits suit the actual load profile, including surge demand.

For example, two 51.2 V, 100 Ah LiFePO4 packs may have the same nominal energy of about 5.12 kWh, yet differ in certified configuration, allowable current, temperature limits, communications, and installation requirements. A supplier comparison should record those fields side by side; matching voltage and capacity alone is not a valid equivalence check.

Ask how production controls preserve the evaluated design. Confirm cell and component traceability, incoming inspection, end-of-line testing, serial-number records, change control, and notification procedures for substitutions. A change to cells, BMS firmware, protective components, or enclosure may require review by the certification body.

- Verify the listing directly with the certification body and match the model number.

- Confirm the quoted configuration and intended use fall within the certified scope.

- Obtain UN38.3 documentation separately for transport planning.

- Review BMS limits, installation instructions, warranty terms, and change-control practices.

- Agree on MOQ, lead time, sample approval, and production acceptance criteria before issuing a purchase order.

For North American projects, also confirm whether the integrator, insurer, utility, or local authority requires additional standards or system-level evaluation. IEC 62619 may be relevant to a project's market or procurement requirements, but it is not interchangeable with UL 1973. Ask the responsible project stakeholders to confirm the applicable requirements.

When comparing suppliers, request a written statement of certification scope, a document package tied to the quoted model, and a clear process for managing engineering changes. Newbeebattery can serve as an OEM/ODM custom pack partner to align pack design, documentation, MOQ, and lead time with project requirements.

A qualified UL 1973 battery supplier can show that the product offered is the product evaluated, explain its operating limits, and support traceability through delivery. Verify those points before purchase to reduce certification gaps, integration delays, and avoidable rework.
